A Masterpiece

Last weekend, H and I went on a date, Left the boys at home and we made our way to the expo to see
A Moving Masterpiece: The Song Dynasty As Living Art. We reach there around three in the afternoon and the queue to the entrance was as long as a dragon.

Once we enter there was a pre-exhibition related to the art piece. Before we enter the main hall each of us were given an audio set. You may select the language or dialect you prefer. You can listen to it as many times as you like. It explains to you the different sections of the painting as it guides you along it.

The beginning and the end of the Qing Ming Shang He Tu replica. No, we did not pay $21 just to see this replica but an animated version of it. A 128m x 6.5m panorama of it

Just in case you want to know whose great work was this -click on the picture to read.

And so the show begins with the country side, to the village, market, outside the city, city gate and inside the city. Here are some facts and figures -
There are 814 human characters,  170 trees, 60 lifestocks, 30 buildings, 28 boats, 20 push carts, 17 bridges, and 9 sedans

One of the main scene where the boat men trying to stop it from crashing into the bridge.

A merchant leading a caravan of camels out of the city

The  end of the masterpiece with a doctor's clinic on the left. A square well with 2 men pulling up water and a group of scholars  under some umbrellas.

The animators also put in a night scene as you can see above. The scene changes from a day to night scene.

My pictures are terrible and they do no justice to the actual scenes. If you have a chance do go and have a look. It's awesome.
